Dating Advice

It is amazing what people fall for when they are desperate. Anyone who has looked at all of the scams on the Internet offering guaranteed success in business for just a small investment probably knows exactly what I'm talking about. People get crazy about money, and they do stupid things when they should know better.
As insane as people get over money, however, they get even crazier over romance. People get dating advice from anyone. People get dating tips from psychics, from friends who have had little relationship success, and from so-called experts with no professional credentials. From Dr. Phil to the palm reader down at the county fair, the world of dating advice is filled with quacks. Although sometimes these people give good advice on dating, you are always taking a risk when you listen to them. Is it worth the risk?
I used to get relationship advice from a good friend of mine. He presented himself as a real ladies man, but the reality was much different. He got a lot of dates with a lot of different girls it was true, but part of the reason was because none of them wanted to stay with him for more than a date or two. We thought he was such a stud at the time that we listened to his dating advice, but it was always terrible. All of his relationship tips inevitably failed. Sure, his dating advice could help us to find a date. He would help us get our relationship profile in order for online dating services, or practice that perfect pickup line. He would not, however, help us make our relationships last.
When you get dating advice from someone, it is important that you first know a little bit about their personal life. I am not saying that someone who doesn't have a good relationship history can't give good dating advice, but I am saying that it should make you wonder. There are some people who can tell you the right thing to do but can't do it themselves, but for every one of them there are at least five who tell it just exactly like they do it. The bottom line is that you should not trust someone for dating advice just because of their so-called expertise. Instead, find a friend who has had at least one very stable relationship and has very good powers of self perception. Get your dating advice from him or her.

Achieve Your Goals

In late December, I was talking to my family about New Year's resolutions. I asked them what resolutions they had, and their responses surprised me. Apparently, they do not make resolutions anymore. They were so convinced that resolutions were useless, that they have stopped making them. Although in one way, I admired the honesty of this approach, in another way I was somewhat shocked. Achieving your goals is one of the most important things in life, and just because you meet with some failures does not mean you should stop setting concrete goals. After all, you have no chance of learning how to achieve your goals if you never set them!
There are many different ways of setting goals. A lot of people have one method by which they claim you can achieve your goal, but in my experience different methods work for different people. Some people, for example, rely heavily on religious faith to achieve their goals. They will tell you that to achieve your goals, you need Christ, or some other commonly known religious figure at the center of your life.
This may work for them, but it is not the only way to achieve your goal. Other people have a much more concrete approach to setting and achieving goals. They say that, to achieve your goals, you have to think and act like a highly successful person. They use psychological tricks and personal affirmations to help achieve your goal. In many ways, these affirmations work much like religious faith does for those who are more interested in it. Rather than using faith in God to achieve your goals, these people advocate using faith in yourself.
Still other people say that the best way to achieve your goals is through therapy and counseling. They say that the reason people are dysfunctional is because they have certain deep conflicts holding them back from achieving goals in their lives. They advocate all kinds of different therapies to achieve your goals, from solution focused therapy, to psychotherapy, to life coaching.
In my personal life, I believe that the best way to achieve your goals is to combine elements from all of these approaches. If I feel alienated from myself and my goals, sometimes I will make a list and figure out what I have to do, and other times I will pray to God for guidance, or seek out a therapist. The best way to achieve your goals is to figure out what works for you, and for me it depends on the goals, and on what is holding me back.

Jennifer Paige

Jennifer Paige - Here With Me Lyrics

In my head
I have dreams
I have visions of many things
Questions longings in my mind

Pictures fill my head
I feel so trapped instead
But trapped doesn't seem so bad
Cause you are here

It doesn't mean anything
Without you here with me
And I can try to justify
But I still need you here with me

In my heart I had hope
Built on dreams I'll never know
Answers to love left behind
Visions filled my head

I felt so trapped instead
But trapped didn't seem so bad
Cause you were near

It doesn't mean anything
Without you here with me
And I can try to justify
But I still need you here with me

I can't do anything without you
You give me strength to do anything
And I can't be everything I try to
You saved me from the everything I couldn't be

It doesn't mean anything
Without you here with me
And I can try to justify
But I still need you here with me

Need you here with me
I need you here with me

Social networking and real estate

Social networking and real estate

Real estate agents are finding social networking (and bookmarking) sites to be a new way to find customers. An agent from Arlington Heights, IL is using listings at various social sites and is having great success. He has created a profile at Naymz.com and is targeting keywords like Arlington Heights real estate and other local terms to drive new traffic to his website.

A few new profile pages that have been created include this Arlington Heights page at Windows Live, and this Claim ID page about his real estate team Suburban House Hunters. These pages not only can bring in more search engine traffic, but also traffic from those that use these social sites. Many people find a community online and will use that community to locate service providers and more.

With some hard work and networking the goal is to become the trusted authority on these social sites and capture new business.
